What is GnuPG?

Gnu Privacy Guard, also known as GnuPG or GPG, is a command line tool with features for easy integration with other applications. GnuPG allows users to encrypt and sign their data and communication. It also features a versatile key management system and access modules for multiple public key directories. Front-end applications and libraries are also available, and as of version 2, S/MIME is supported.

GnuPG is an open-source project to implement OpenPGP (Pretty Good Privacy) encryption protocols. As a free software, it can be used freely, modified, and distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License. We recommend Gpg4Win to encrypt your files and emails. Gpg4Win supports both relevant cryptography standards, OpenPGP and S/MIME (X.509), and is the official GnuPG distribution for Windows. Gpg4Win contains Kleopatra, a certified manager GUI and GnuPG, as one of its free software components. For more information, see Gpg4Win documentation available in PDF and HTML versions.

What is Kleopatra?

Kleopatra is a built-in component of GnuPG for Windows users. It allows users to manage cryptographic keys, as well as aid in the encryption and decryption of files. With Kleopatra, it is easy to manage your certificates and create your own. You can also manage keys you receive from your Trading Partners because there is a window to view their details.
