The HIPAA 275 Claim Attachment Master is a robust application for creating, transmitting, receiving, and processing X12 275 transactions—used to exchange electronic attachments that support healthcare claims, authorizations, and referrals. It allows healthcare organizations and trading partners to send or receive clinical documents, forms, images, and other supporting materials in a standardized, HIPAA-compliant format.
Under the HIPAA framework, electronic attachments are used to provide supporting documentation—such as clinical notes, images, or forms—for healthcare claims, authorizations, or referrals. These attachments are essential in cases where additional information is needed to adjudicate a claim. The 275 transaction set is used in conjunction with other HIPAA transactions, such as the 837 for claims and the 278 for authorizations.
The 275 Claim Attachment Master supports HIPAA-compliant versions of the 275 transaction and is designed to extract and organize data from incoming X12 files. Attachments, typically encoded in base64, are decoded and saved as separate files (PDF, TIFF, etc.) that can be easily reviewed or archived.
In addition to viewing and saving attachments, the program allows export of key metadata into a database—making it easy to integrate with your internal systems or build searchable archives of received attachments.
With an updated .NET-based architecture and intuitive interface, the 275 Claim Attachment Master simplifies the handling of this often-overlooked but critical part of the EDI workflow.
HIPAAsuite uses a licensing module system. Licenses are generally per machine; that means multiple users can log into a computer, though not simultaneously, unless they have one with additional licenses embedded. After downloading the application, you have a 15-day trial (see Trials and Trial Extensions). If you move your application to another machine, contact us to provide a different key.

Once these tables are created, 275 EDI files can be loaded into the connected database. Your application can then retrieve the 275 information from the database and apply business logic as needed. The HIPAA Claim Attachment Master application can also read these database records to re-create the original claim images. Additionally, you can generate a 275 EDI file from those same database records (see the Creating 275 EDI Files chapter).
